Student Support Teacher (ESE & Section 504)

Job Description

At Classical Prep, the Student Support Teacher plays a vital role in helping scholars succeed by providing the support they need to achieve the goals of our school and fulfill our mission.

Overview

  • Position: Full-time,  10-month exempt
  • Work Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM daily, 192 days, plus occasional nights and weekends as necessary
  • Benefits: Insurance benefits the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment, 3% match of employee retirement contribution, and 7 days of PTO
  • Reports to Student Support Coordinator

Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting Exceptional Students  
      • Create and maintain accurate records and documentation for students receiving ESE support services
      • Collaborate with administration to compile and respond to school-wide data from benchmark testing and progress monitoring for data analysis
      • Make data-based instructional decisions regarding student learning needs
      • Communicate with parents, teachers, and paraprofessionals regarding students who are receiving services in special education
      • Create an atmosphere of sharing and cooperation at meetings with teachers and  parents
      • Provide documentation and progress monitoring data to school psychologists, the Student Support Team, and teachers as needed
      • Monitor students within classrooms to ensure that accommodations are implemented with fidelity and show student progress
      • Provide recommendations for ESE curriculum and supplemental instructional materials
      • Assist the school in the decision-making process required for determining accommodations for students with disabilities participating in standard assessments  
  • 504 Coordinator
    • Will serve as the primary point of contact for staff and families for all 504-related matters.
    • Prepare, update, and maintain records and reports pertaining to Section 504 Plans in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements
    • Coordinate and conduct 504 Meetings with parents to review 504 plans for 6th- 12th grade students 
    • Follow up with teachers to ensure all accommodations are being provided
    • Provide general education teachers with copies of 504 Plans
    • Maintain 504 Plans files to meet the standards set forth by the District
    • Schedule meetings for initial 504 Plans and Annual Reviews
    • Prepare all forms/documents necessary for each meeting
    • Ensure accommodation logs are created, shared, and maintained in a timely manner
  • Professional Development
    • Attend and participate in all professional development activities
    • Coordinate and support administrators and teachers with applicable professional development opportunities
    • Maintain personal professional development records regarding certification
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fulfill duties including lunch coverage, carline dismissal, field trip chaperoning, tutoring, and other duties as assigned by the administration

Overtime Eligibility

This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Classical Preparatory School’s evaluation rubric.
