Job Description

At Classical Prep, the teacher’s role is to lead students in pursuing the school’s goals and mission.


Overview

  • Position: Full-time,  10-month exempt
  • Work Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily, 192 days, plus occasional nights and weekends provided in advance
  • Benefits: Insurance benefits the first of the month following hire date of full-time employment, a 3% match of employee retirement contribution (after one year of employment), and 7 days of PTO.
  • Reports to Upper School Principal

Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Instruction and Progress Monitoring

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures  
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment 
  • Use relevant but limited technology to support instruction 
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing CPS rules and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of CPS and the Pasco County School District
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student work
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust instruction  
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of students’ progress and development
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations 
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities  
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings  
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs  
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities 
  • Prepare classroom for class activities according to CPS guidelines 
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development 
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner

Professional Development

  • Attend and participate in all professional development activities
  • Maintain personal professional development records regarding certification

Overtime Eligibility

This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Classical Preparatory School’s evaluation rubric.
