Job Description

At Classical Prep, the role of a Paraprofessional is to lead students in pursuit of the goals of our school and our mission.

Overview

  • Position: Full-time
  • Work Schedule: 7:45 PM- 3:30 PM daily, 180 days, plus occasional professional development days, nights, weekends, and summer hours as deemed necessary
  • Benefits: New full-time employees are eligible for insurance coverage beginning the first of the month following 60 days of employment, a 3% match of employee retirement contributions with a two-year vesting period, and five (5) days of PTO.
  • Reports to Executive Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Serve as the embedded, emergency substitute teacher at the Grammar (K – 5) level
  • Para-professionals are responsible for helping manage instructional manipulatives
  • Assist with assigned teacher duties when needed
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Executive Coordinator
  • Provide support to instructors
  • Complete other administrative duties as assigned

  • Three years or more of paraprofessional experience in an educational setting

Preferred  Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or 60 credit hours at the undergraduate level
  • Completion of a Paraprofessional Training course
  • Teaching experience

  • Be able to work in heat, cold, damp, and dry conditions
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and/or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job, such as carrying items up to 15lbs

Overtime Eligibility

This job is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; therefore, it is eligible for overtime pay.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Classical Preparatory School’s evaluation rubric.
