All rising into seventh grade students must read the required book choice at their grade level and in a one page essay answer the following question: What does Up from Slavery teach us about the character of American society following the abolition of slavery? Students must also read one additional book of their choice from the approved book list at their grade level, and then complete a one page written summary. Each assignment will be turned in for credit on the first day of school.
